The FDA tries to hit a moving target with social media marketing guidelines

Is anyone really surprised about the FDA’s decision to postone social media marketing guidelines ?  If so than you better check your drivers license to ensure you weren’t born yesterday.  The reality is that consumers and patients are having conversations around social media and health and they are turning in larger numbers to the Internet for health information.  What’s more the way they are using the Internet for health is changing and evolving very quickly so any issued guidelines could be outdated the day they are issued. You shouldn’t wait for FDA “guidelines” on social media

Are you surprised by the FDA’s lack of guidance on social media drug marketing ?  You shouldn’t be.  This is the new FDA and they’re trying to put a stake in the ground to show who’se boss and for the most part drug companies are retreating.  This is what happens when you are more political than logical and have scientists rather than business people.  In the end it is not the drug companies that are loosing out but patients and consumers.
